How To Make PEAR BREAD PUDDING - Day 16,802

(Mom's original recipe page.  This is the one we used for years and years.)

Pear Bread Pudding

2 Loaves French Baguette, diced
6 Eggs
2 Teaspoons Cinnamon, ground
4 Cups Milk, scalded
8 Tablespoons Butter, melted
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Teaspoons Salt
1 Cup Raisins (optional)
4 Pears, cored and diced

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Cut up bread and place in a large mixing bowl.  Scald milk and add butter.  In separate mixing bowl add eggs, cinnamon, salt and sugar. Beat well and add milk and butter.  Pour mixture over bread pieces and add raisins.  Toss well and allow to sit for 10 minutes.  Add pears and toss well again.  Pour into greased 9”x13” pan or other suitable baking dish.  Bake for 1 hour and check for doneness 1 inch inform the edge.  A toothpick should come out clean.  Remove and allow cooling for 1-20 minutes before serving with whipped cream or butter.  Great cold, fried the next day or just with a fork for a midnight snack!
